Identify what you have been asked to do
Do not prepare for every Talview task as if it were a recorded interview. Automated video asks for recorded answers. A live interview is a scheduled conversation. Multiple-choice tasks ask you to select an option. Written or essay tasks ask for text or an uploaded response. Coding tasks require a programming solution. A process can combine several sections.
Proctoring is a way to monitor assessment integrity. It is not a separate answer format. Read any identity checks, room checks, screen-sharing requirements, or secure-browser instructions that apply to your session. Do not assume that another candidate’s process has the same rules.
Make a section-by-section plan
Use the invitation for the role, deadline, time zone, access link, verification code, and support route. Keep the code private. If the invitation includes a practice link, use it before the real assessment. Missing information is an item to check, not a reason to borrow settings from a simulator.
For each section, record its format, required device, estimated time, and permitted materials. The total time depends on the assigned sections and questions. Set aside time for setup as well as answers. If you need an accommodation or a deadline change, ask the hiring organization through its stated channel before the deadline. A request does not change the deadline until it is approved.
Know the broad flow; follow your own screen
Talview’s browser guide describes access through an invitation and verification code, hardware checks, camera preview, audio playback, answers, and final submission. The page also says the interface can vary by the organization’s application version. Its mixed text-entry and video examples do not establish a universal screen for every recorded question.
Check how each prompt appears and how recording starts. Confirm preparation time, response duration, attempts, review controls, and the final action from your screen. Do not assume a preview of all questions, another take, a pause, or the right to return later. A sample recording is separate from an assessed attempt.
- Identify the section and read its instructions.
- Complete required device and identity checks.
- Use an available official practice assessment.
- Read the actual question and its controls.
- Answer and submit as instructed; then check completion.
Separate identity, integrity, and answer evaluation
Talview markets AI-based recruitment and proctoring products. These capabilities do not show which products your employer uses. Identity verification checks who is taking the assessment. Proctoring checks compliance with the assessment rules. Recording captures an answer. Hiring evaluation concerns the evidence an employer uses to make a decision.
Ask about the applicable privacy notice or assessment process if you need clarification. Clear speech, comfortable posture, and a visible face help communication. They are not proof that eye contact, facial expressions, posture, or vocal tone receive a universal automatic score. Follow integrity rules and do not use unauthorized assistance.
Employers can use recorded answers to arrange screening without a shared meeting time. Common prompts can help comparison, but the format does not guarantee fair decisions, personal feedback, or an offer. Prepare relevant evidence rather than trying to guess a hidden algorithm.
Worked examples
These scenarios are hypothetical teaching examples. Use your own facts and decisions.
Your invitation contains video questions and a coding section.
Weak answer or plan
I will use my phone for everything because it has a camera.
Improved answer or plan
I will identify the device required for each section. I will prepare spoken examples for video and a suitable computer for the coding task, then complete the required checks.
Why this works
The candidate treats each task as a separate requirement.
Put it into practice
Build your assessment map
Read your invitation. List every section and mark unconfirmed settings as unknown. Do not enter your verification code in this worksheet.
Notes are not saved or sent. They clear when you leave or reload this page. Copy any notes you need before you leave.
Check your work
- Have you separated live and recorded stages?
- Which section has the most restrictive device requirement?
- Which unknown requirement must you check before starting?
