pymetrics Games Practice: All 12 Games Plus the Four Reasoning Games
Practise every pymetrics-style game before your assessment, from Balloons and the Money Exchanges to Arrows, Tower and Faces, plus the Magnitudes, Sequences, Shapes and Letters games that some employers add. Each game is rebuilt from the published psychology task behind it, with original art, and ends with a review of how you played. These are independent practice simulations, not the real games, and Candidate Falcon is not affiliated with pymetrics or Harver.

The 12 core pymetrics games
Each game has a free guide on its page. Practice runs need a plan that includes Harver.
- Core gameBalloons
Balloons
Pump a balloon to add money to it and collect before it pops; a pop loses the money in that balloon, and balloons of different colours pop at different sizes.
Practice: 30 balloons, untimed (about 3–4 minutes)
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Balloons - Core gameMoney Exchange 1
Money Exchange 1
You hold $10 and a partner holds $0; whatever you send is tripled, the partner sends back an amount you do not control, and you rate how fair the exchange was.
Practice: 3 rounds with 3 simulated partners, untimed
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Money Exchange 1 - Core gameMoney Exchange 2
Money Exchange 2
You and a partner each start with $5 and one of you gets an extra $5: first a partner decides how to split it and you rate the fairness, then you decide whether to give, keep or take.
Practice: 2 rounds, untimed
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Money Exchange 2 - Core gameKeypresses
Keypresses
Press the spacebar as fast as you can from GO until STOP, reportedly over more than one round.
Practice: 3 rounds of 10 seconds (under a minute)
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Keypresses - Core gameDigits
Digits
Digits are shown one at a time; you type them back in the same order, and each success makes the next list longer (pymetrics patent). Prep sites add that a wrong answer makes it shorter and three wrong answers end the game.
Practice: Up to 20 lists; 3 wrong answers end the run
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Digits - Core gameHard or Easy
Hard or Easy
Each round shows a chance of winning; you pick an easy task for $1.00 or a hard one for more money, then press the spacebar enough times before the time runs out.
Practice: 2 minutes of rounds
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Hard or Easy - Core gameStop
Stop
Circles appear one at a time: press the space bar for a red circle and do nothing for a green one (pymetrics patent). Prep sites add that red comes far more often, so pressing becomes a habit.
Practice: 80 circles, about 2 minutes
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Stop - Core gameCards
Cards
Draw cards one at a time from four face-down decks; every card wins money and some also lose money, and a balance with gains and losses bars tracks the total.
Practice: 80 draws from a $2,000 start, untimed
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Cards - Core gameArrows
Arrows
Five arrows appear in a row. Blue or black arrows: press the direction of the middle arrow. Red arrows: press the direction of the side arrows (prep sites; the flanker task is in pymetrics’ patent).
Practice: 90 trials, about 2–3 minutes
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Arrows - Core gameLengths
Lengths
A cartoon face flashes with a short or a long mouth; press ← for short or → for long. Some correct answers win money, and one length is rewarded more often than the other (pymetrics patent; prep sites).
Practice: 90 faces in 3 blocks of 30, about 4 minutes
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Lengths - Core gameTower
Tower
Rearrange five coloured discs on three pegs, moving one top disc at a time, until your towers match a target arrangement, in as few moves as you can before the timer runs out.
Practice: 5 puzzles of 3 to 7 moves, 2:00 each
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Tower - Core gameFaces
Faces
Name the emotion a person is feeling from a picture of their face, sometimes with a short story about their situation, choosing from a list of emotion labels.
Practice: 14 faces: 7 s each, 30 s with a story
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Faces
The four extra reasoning games
Some employers add numerical and logical games that, unlike the core games, have right answers.
- Reasoning gameMagnitudes
Magnitudes
Pick the larger of two quantities, shown as fields of dots or as fractions; prep sites report 14 items with about 5 seconds each.
Practice: 14 items, 5 seconds each
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Magnitudes - Reasoning gameSequences
Sequences
Find the missing number in a series; a prep site reports 12 items with 30 seconds each.
Practice: 12 items, 30 seconds each
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Sequences - Reasoning gameShapes
Shapes
Find which small shape is hidden inside a complex line figure, without rotating it; prep sites report 10 items with 45 seconds each.
Practice: 10 items, 45 seconds each
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Shapes - Reasoning gameLetters (2-back)
Letters (2-back)
Letters appear one at a time; respond when a letter matches the one two letters back (2-back). The patent lists the task; a prep site reports 45 letters.
Practice: 45 letters, one every 2.5 seconds (about 2 minutes)
Task from pymetrics’ patents; screen details from prep sites
Practise Letters (2-back)
How the pymetrics games work
Each paragraph says where its facts come from: Official is pymetrics’ patents and research or harver.com, Prep sites is unconfirmed, and Candidate Falcon is how our simulation works.
Official: pymetrics and HarverThe core set is 12 short games derived from published psychology studies, taking about 25 minutes in total, with no right or wrong answer. Your pattern of play is compared with people who do well in the job. Harver bought pymetrics in 2022 and says the games carried over unchanged.
Prep sitesPrep sites describe the screens, round counts and rewards, for example $0.05 per balloon pump, 80 card draws and about 14 faces. pymetrics does not publish them, so we label each one on the game’s page.
Candidate FalconOur games follow the research tasks (such as the Balloon Analogue Risk Task, the trust game, the Iowa Gambling Task and the Tower of London) with original art, and end with a review in our own words. Where a detail is not public, such as how often a balloon pops, the value is our own and the guide says so.
Candidate FalconPractice helps you know what each game asks before the real one, so you can play calmly and as yourself. It cannot reveal pymetrics’ model, and a Candidate Falcon review is not a pymetrics result. If your invitation also includes Harver tests, see the Harver practice modules.
pymetrics practice FAQ
What does Candidate Falcon’s pymetrics practice cover?
All 12 core pymetrics-style games (Balloons, Money Exchange 1 and 2, Keypresses, Digits, Hard or Easy, Stop, Cards, Arrows, Lengths, Tower and Faces) and the four numerical and logical games that some employers add (Magnitudes, Sequences, Shapes and Letters). Each game is rebuilt from the published psychology task it is based on, with original art and wording, and ends with a review of how you played.
Is there a right answer in the pymetrics games?
pymetrics says there is no right or wrong answer: the games measure traits such as risk tolerance, attention, effort, fairness and learning, and your pattern is compared with people who do well in the job. Some games still have correct responses, such as Digits or Stop, and the four extra reasoning games are scored on accuracy. Candidate Falcon’s review describes how you played in our own words; it is not pymetrics’ trait report.
How long do the pymetrics games take?
pymetrics’ candidate FAQ gives about 25 minutes for the 12 games, with each game lasting 1 to 3 minutes. You cannot pause in the middle of a game, but you can take breaks between games. Prep sites report about 30 to 35 minutes when the four extra games are added.
Are pymetrics and Harver the same?
Harver completed its acquisition of pymetrics in August 2022 and now sells the games as its gamified assessments. That is why Candidate Falcon includes pymetrics-style practice with the Harver platform in the games plans.
Which plan includes the pymetrics practice?
