Talview Technical Problems: Choose the Correct Next Step

Identify the fault and whether an assessed answer is active. Use the official guidance for that problem, keep a record of the error, and contact technical support if recovery fails. Do not assume a restart will recover a recording or add an attempt.

Verification code or unsupported device

For an invalid code, use the most recent invitation and check every character. Remove spaces before or after the code; manual entry can avoid copy-and-paste formatting errors. If it still fails, use the official support ticket route with the error and assessment reference. Do not publish the code or send it through an unrelated practice service.

A Not Supported message is a device or task-compatibility problem, not an instruction to keep retrying the same phone. Check the assigned section and use the required laptop or desktop. If you cannot obtain the required setup, ask about an approved alternative before the deadline. Do not try to bypass a device or secure-browser requirement.

Camera and microphone: check each layer

For camera detection problems, check the connection, close other applications that use the camera, and inspect browser permission for the assessment site. Check operating-system permission as well. Use the intended camera in the preview. Apply the official camera instructions before starting an answer when possible.

For missing speech, select the intended microphone and test playback. Talview warns that mobile earphones can fail on a laptop; try the built-in microphone or a compatible headset as directed. Reduce background noise and speak clearly. A speech-detection error is not evidence that your answer received a low interview score.

If permissions or hardware remain wrong during a real question, note the affected section and error, then follow on-screen recovery or support instructions. Do not press Submit merely to test whether it fixes the microphone. Changing the browser can affect the session, so follow the official process rather than repeatedly opening new attempts.

Lost connection or an unresponsive page

Talview’s unresponsive-page guide recommends checking the connection, refreshing, and reopening through the invitation with the same verification code if needed. Its timer-support advice also describes returning through the same access route. Follow the guidance for your version and any stricter proctor instructions.

Record what failed, the time, the section, and the displayed message. If the permitted recovery fails, submit a support ticket with the requested screenshot. Protect private data and follow the assessment rules about capturing question content. Recovery may let you continue, but it is not a guarantee that a recording survived, a timer stopped, or another take was granted.

Do not treat a recovery procedure as permission to leave for a planned break. A proctored task may require you to stay in the session or contact the proctor. Do not disable integrity controls or use another person to complete the assessment.

Early submission or a final control that does not work

If you accidentally submit, check the resulting status rather than assuming you can undo it. Tell technical support which control you used and what the page now shows. If you need a hiring-process change or another attempt, use the employer’s stated contact route as well. Neither a request nor a support ticket guarantees reopening.

If a Finish control is inactive, use the official article for that interface. It describes an activation delay and warns against browser back/forward navigation. Do not interpret this as a universal minimum interview length. Follow the displayed instructions and ask support if the final control remains unavailable.

Lost concentration or room noise

For a minor interruption, pause briefly if the remaining time permits, then continue with the useful part of the answer. If you lose your place, return to the question and state your main action or conclusion. Do not fill the remaining time with an invented story.

If an interruption affects assessment integrity or makes the answer impossible, follow the session’s instructions and report it factually. Use a retake only if it is actually offered. Avoid promises that a recruiter will disregard the issue or let you start again. Technical support handles software faults; hiring decisions and changes to the assessment process belong to the organization.

Worked examples

These scenarios are hypothetical teaching examples. Use your own facts and decisions.

The page freezes after a recording and you do not know whether it was saved.

Weak answer or plan

I will refresh repeatedly until I get another attempt.

Improved answer or plan

I will note the section and error, follow the official frozen-page recovery steps, and check the resulting status. If it remains unclear, I will report it to technical support and ask the employer about any required process change.

Why this works

The response separates a recovery step from an unsupported promise about saved work.

Put it into practice

Build a problem-to-support plan

Choose one likely fault and write a safe plan. Do not include private questions or access credentials.

Notes are not saved or sent. They clear when you leave or reload this page. Copy any notes you need before you leave.

Check your work

  • Does the plan avoid assuming a new attempt?
  • Have you separated technical support from hiring decisions?
  • Does it follow the applicable assessment and integrity rules?

Candidate Falcon is independent from Talview. Your hiring company controls its questions, settings, assessment, and hiring decisions. Practice does not guarantee an outcome.
