Cappfinity Practice Tests: Numerical Reasoning and Situational Strengths Simulations
Practise Cappfinity-style numerical reasoning and situational strengths questions before your assessment. Each module uses the answer formats that Cappfinity’s public demo and employers describe, then shows a review after every run: worked solutions for numerical questions and a strengths profile for the situational strengths test. These are independent practice simulations, not the real test, and Candidate Falcon is not affiliated with Cappfinity.
Choose a module to practiseBoth modules are included in the 1 Game Platform Prep plan (from €12.99/month) when you choose Cappfinity as your one assessment platform, in All Games Platforms Prep together with the 11 HireVue games and 15 Arctic Shores-style tasks, and in Full Access. See plans
What the assessment is
A strengths-based online assessment. Cappfinity’s Preparation Hub looks at Performance (how well you do something), Energy (how much it energises you) and Use (how often you do it). The employer chooses the modules, so two candidates can get different sets.
How timing works
Cappfinity’s demo calls its reasoning tests “time-recorded, as distinct from time-limited”: no countdown, but your score combines accuracy with the time you take. Behavioural modules are untimed, apart from written and video answers.
How results are reported
No pass mark is published. Many candidates get an automatic strengths feedback report, and Deloitte says its report is not the outcome of your assessment.
Cappfinity practice modules
Two modules, each with a free guide on its page. Practice runs need a plan that includes Cappfinity.
- ReasoningNumerical Reasoning
Numerical Reasoning
Also called “Capp numerical”
Answer workplace questions from one table or bar chart each, in three formats: pick one of five options, type a number in the unit the question gives, or rank five items (Cappfinity demo).
Practice: 12 questions, no time limit; the time you take is recorded
Format from Cappfinity’s demo and employer hubs
Practise Numerical Reasoning - BehaviouralSituational Strengths Test
Situational Strengths Test
Also called “SST”
Cappfinity and employer hubs describe ranking the responses to a workplace scenario, from the action you would most likely take to the least likely.
Practice: 16 scenarios, untimed
Format from Cappfinity’s descriptions; counts from prep sites

What you practise in each module
Each paragraph says where its facts come from: Official is Cappfinity or an employer hub marked “Powered by Cappfinity”, Prep sites is unconfirmed, and Candidate Falcon is how our simulation works.
The numerical reasoning module
Official: Cappfinity demoEach numerical question sits next to one exhibit, a spreadsheet-style table or a bar chart, and the exhibit includes data you do not need. You answer by picking one of five options, typing a number into a box that states the unit (for example £), or dragging five items into order.
Official: employer hubsHSBC and Deloitte list multiplication, division, decimals, percentages and ratios as the skills involved. Cappfinity’s Preparation Hub and the Deloitte, HSBC and FCA hubs say a calculator, pen and paper are allowed and recommended. Deloitte gives about 12 minutes on average for its numerical module, and Deloitte and Aviva say the time you take counts towards your score.
Prep sitesJobTestPrep reports 12 questions and GraduatesFirst 12 to 15. Some prep sites also claim the test adapts to your answers. No official source confirms either.
Candidate FalconOur module mixes the same three answer formats on original tables and charts, shows a time-taken clock that counts up instead of a countdown, and explains the working for every question after the run. Keep your own calculator next to you, as the real test allows.
The situational strengths module
Official: Cappfinity and employersCappfinity’s Preparation Hub, Deloitte, HSBC and Shoosmiths describe the same task: read a workplace scenario and order the responses from the action you would most likely take to the one you would least likely take. Aviva and M&G call it a situational strengths test. Behavioural modules are untimed.
Official: Cappfinity and the FCACappfinity asks you to answer honestly rather than second-guess what the employer wants, and the FCA says its practice assessment has no right or wrong answers. No answer key or cut-offs are published.
Prep sites and one candidatePrep-site samples show five responses per scenario. JobTestPrep reports 16 scenarios in the version it attributes to EY, and one candidate reported 22 at Deloitte in 2016.
Candidate Falcon’s modelOur module gives you original graduate-workplace scenarios, each with five reasonable actions to rank from most likely to least likely. There is no timer and nothing is marked right or wrong: the result is a strengths profile from our own mapping of actions to strengths, not Cappfinity’s key.
Where you might meet Cappfinity
Official: employer hubsDeloitte, HSBC, the FCA, M&G and Aviva run early-careers preparation hubs marked “Powered by Cappfinity”, and the law firm Shoosmiths describes its own Cappfinity strengths-based assessment. Real scenarios are often set in the employer’s own workplace: HSBC’s assessment introduces you to HSBC’s culture, and Deloitte says the scenarios in its practice version are not specific to Deloitte.
What practice can and cannot do
Candidate FalconPractice helps you learn the answer formats, the pace and the screens, so the real test holds fewer surprises. It cannot reveal Cappfinity’s scoring or a “right” order for the situational strengths test, and a Candidate Falcon result is not a Cappfinity score.
Official: CappfinityTry Cappfinity’s own free material as well. Its demo has three example numerical questions and five each for verbal and critical reasoning, with no sign-up, and its Preparation Hub links to free behavioural and cognitive practice once you accept its privacy notice and user agreement.
Cappfinity practice FAQ
What does Candidate Falcon’s Cappfinity practice cover?
Two modules. The numerical reasoning module asks workplace questions about tables and charts in the three answer formats of Cappfinity’s demo: pick one of five options, type a number, or rank five items. It shows a time-taken clock and explains every solution after the run. The situational strengths module gives you workplace scenarios with five actions to rank, then shows a strengths profile. Verbal and critical reasoning, immersive assessments, job simulations and video stages are not simulated.
Is the Cappfinity numerical test timed?
There is no countdown, but time usually counts. Cappfinity’s demo describes its reasoning tests as time-recorded rather than time-limited and says your overall score combines accuracy with the time you take. Deloitte and Aviva say time affects the score on their numerical tests, while a 2024 FCA video says time is not scored in its assessment. The practice module shows the time you take, counting up, with no countdown.
Is there a right answer in the Cappfinity situational strengths test?
Cappfinity does not publish an answer key or cut-offs. Its advice is to answer honestly and not to second-guess what the employer wants, and the FCA says its practice assessment has no right or wrong answers. The practice module never marks an order right or wrong: it maps each action to one or two strengths with Candidate Falcon’s own model, which is not Cappfinity’s key.
How many questions and scenarios are in the real Cappfinity tests?
Cappfinity does not publish counts, and they likely vary by employer. Prep sites report 12 (JobTestPrep) or 12 to 15 (GraduatesFirst) numerical questions. For the situational strengths test, prep-site samples show five responses per scenario, JobTestPrep reports 16 scenarios in the version it attributes to EY, and one candidate reported 22 at Deloitte in 2016.
Can I use a calculator in the Cappfinity numerical test?
Yes. Cappfinity’s Preparation Hub and the Deloitte, HSBC and FCA preparation hubs say a calculator, pen and paper are allowed and recommended. Use your own calculator in the practice module too.
Which Candidate Falcon plan includes the Cappfinity practice modules?
Both modules are included in 1 Game Platform Prep when you choose Cappfinity as your one platform (the choice lasts for the whole subscription), in All Games Platforms Prep together with the 11 HireVue games and 15 Arctic Shores-style tasks, and in Full Access. The module guides on these pages are free to read.
Is Candidate Falcon affiliated with Cappfinity?
No. Candidate Falcon is independent. The modules are original simulations built from Cappfinity’s public demo and Preparation Hub, employer preparation hubs and prep-site reports. Their results are Candidate Falcon practice results, not Cappfinity scores. For Cappfinity’s own free practice, use its demo at practice.cappassessments.com and its Preparation Hub.
