Huru vs Big Interview: Free Practice or Structured Interview Training?

Huru and Big Interview both help you rehearse spoken interview answers, but the choice is no longer between two paid subscriptions. Huru's current official site says every job-seeker feature is free. Big Interview offers paid personal plans alongside access provided through participating institutions.

What each practice workflow does

Huru: Choose a role from its library, paste a job description, or use its Chrome extension to create an interview from an online job post. Record answers on camera, review the recording and read the feedback. Huru describes scoring on relevance, structure, specificity, impact and ownership, and articulation, with additional feedback on accuracy, grammar and confidence. The site advertises 50,000+ questions, web and iOS access, and five practice languages where a language choice is offered.

Huru also now lists progress tracking, an Interview Skills Agent and an AI resume builder. It is not exclusively an interview recorder.

Big Interview: Its Learn to Interview module combines video and written lessons, personalized learning tracks, quizzes and a Fast-Track route. Its simulator includes an answer builder and role-specific question practice. PracticeAI creates personalized questions from a resume or job description in a voice-only, phone-screen-style format; separate video-recorded practice provides visual delivery feedback.

VideoAI explicitly lists speech pace, vocabulary, eye contact and body language, including filler words, posture and facial expressions. Those are advertised coaching categories, not proof of objective judgements about confidence or suitability. Big Interview also describes resume, LinkedIn and salary-negotiation resources; confirm inclusion in the plan you select.

Current pricing and purchase checks

Huru's pricing section advertises $0 with no subscription, unlimited mock interviews, full instant feedback, custom interviews and the question library. Its FAQ explicitly says there is no paid plan for job seekers. Enterprise pricing is by arrangement for organizations. Older descriptions of Huru monthly or annual individual plans should not guide this decision.

Big Interview's personal pricing page lists Interview BootCamp at $39/month, Interview Accelerator at $99 for a three-month subscription, and Interview Pro at $299 for lifetime access. These are displayed dollar prices checked on the review date, not guaranteed future checkout totals. Its FAQ describes cancellation of membership renewal through the account page and a full refund requested within 30 days of purchase.

Confirm renewal terms, tax and included features at checkout. A refund guarantee is not a free trial.

Privacy before recording or uploading a resume

Big Interview's privacy policy, last updated 8 June 2026, says recordings are stored in your account and processed for transcripts and feedback, including through third-party AI providers. It states that it does not extract biometric identifiers such as facial geometry or voiceprints as defined under the laws it names. That statement should not be confused with an absence of video analysis.

The policy says account content is retained while the account is active and deleted following user-initiated account deletion, subject to stated exceptions and backup copies for up to 35 days. Institutional users' information, activity and content may be shared with their institution under its agreement. Ask who can review your recordings if you use a school or workforce account.

Huru links to an app-hosted privacy policy, but the fetched page returned an application shell without readable policy text. We could not verify its recording retention, deletion or AI-provider terms from that response. This is an evidence limitation, not a finding that Huru lacks a policy or is less secure. Read the policy in the app before recording sensitive examples.

For either tool, omit client names, confidential project details and unnecessary personal information. Rehearsal does not require uploading a real employer's documents.

Choose by the problem you need to fix

• Interview tomorrow, examples already prepared: Try Huru's free workflow and improve one answer at a time. Paying for a curriculum is unnecessary if your immediate need is repetition.
• Answers ramble or lack evidence: Big Interview's answer-building instruction may justify the cost, especially if you will actually use its lessons rather than only its recorder.
• Need questions for one job: Both advertise job-description-based practice. Huru's Chrome import is a workflow difference, not exclusive access to job-specific questions.
• Concerned about recording privacy: Verify the policy and account settings first. Price and catalog size do not answer who can access your content.

One-way interviews and the limits of scores

Neither product page establishes an exact reproduction of your employer's HireVue, Spark Hire, Talview or VidCruiter setup. The invitation and actual instructions determine preparation time, recording limits and retakes. Practise your examples with the relevant time limit, but do not treat a mock interview's rules as permission to redo a real answer.

Use AI feedback to identify a missing result, unclear wording or rushed delivery; then watch the recording yourself. A high score is not an offer forecast, and eye-contact advice should not override your accessibility needs.
