UBS HireVue Interview: The Recorded Video Interview and How to Prepare
Candidate Falcon
Editorial Team

At UBS, most early-careers applicants who pass the online assessments are sent a link to a recorded video interview: UBS gives you the questions on screen and you record your answers at a time that suits you. Candidates often call it the "UBS HireVue", although UBS's own pages do not name the platform. This guide covers what UBS says about the video interview, the questions worth preparing and how to practise.
Candidate Falcon is independent and is not affiliated with UBS or HireVue. The questions below are preparation themes, not leaked or confirmed UBS questions.
Where the Video Interview Fits at UBS
UBS's early careers pages describe four steps:
- Application.
- Online assessments: verbal, numerical and inductive-logical reasoning tests plus UBS Culture Match, to complete within seven days (168 hours) of the invitation. UBS says retakes are not allowed, and points to Aon's website for practice assessments.
- Video interview: if you pass the assessments and look like a good fit, you might receive a link to record it.
- Final round: virtual or in-person interviews.
UBS's "How we hire" page adds that most roles could involve a recorded video interview as part of screening, not just early careers.

What UBS Says About the Video Interview
- You record in your own time. UBS gives you the questions and you record your answers when it suits you.
- Unlimited practice. UBS says you can record as many practice interviews as you like before the real one.
- Presentation. Dress smartly, keep good eye contact with the camera and be concise.
- People decide. UBS says its people make the hiring decisions.
- No AI-written answers. UBS's AI policy says your answers in recorded or virtual video interviews must be your own, and using AI to generate responses is strictly prohibited.
An older UBS article on video interviews adds two practical tips: look into the camera rather than at the screen, and do a test run or two.

How to Practise for the UBS Video Interview
- Prepare five real examples you can adapt to different questions.
- Keep answers concise, as UBS recommends: one example per answer and a clear result.
- Use UBS's unlimited practice recordings to check your camera, sound and eye line before the real questions.
- Write your own answers. UBS prohibits AI-generated responses, so prepare from bullet points in your own words.
