Delta HireVue Interview for Flight Attendants: Process, Questions and Tips

For Delta flight attendant candidates, the HireVue On-Demand Interview is the step between the online assessments and the in-person Event Day in Atlanta. You record your answers on your own, with no interviewer on the other side, and you have seven days to complete it. This guide covers what Delta says about this stage, the questions to prepare and how to practise.

Candidate Falcon is independent and is not affiliated with Delta Air Lines or HireVue. The questions below are preparation themes, not leaked or confirmed Delta questions.

Where the HireVue Fits in Delta's Flight Attendant Process

Delta's flight attendant careers page (as of June 2026) lists these steps:

  1. Application.
  2. Candidate assessment: an AI-powered assessment run with MakiPeople.
  3. Values assessment: a short assessment with Fitme.
  4. HireVue On-Demand Interview: candidates who pass the Fitme assessment are invited to record it. Delta calls HireVue its technology partner for this step.
  5. In-Person Event Day in Atlanta, hosted by Delta flight attendants and the Talent team.
  6. Conditional job offer.
  7. Seven weeks of training on site in Atlanta.

Delta also says that while it uses AI in the application process, hiring leaders review candidate information and remain responsible for all final hiring decisions.

Delta's Rules and Tips for the On-Demand Interview

From Delta's careers page and its flight attendant candidate guide:

  • Deadline: complete the On-Demand Interview within seven days of receiving the invitation.
  • Video is required. The interview is self-recorded.
  • Appearance requirements apply, even though the interview is virtual.
  • Set up your camera properly: webcam at eye level, a neutral background and good lighting.
  • Do not read your answers. Delta advises against pre-writing answers and reading them directly.

If you are not selected, Delta allows one application every six months and does not give individual feedback, so it is worth preparing properly the first time.

How the HireVue Interview Itself Works

The settings come from Delta's interview, not from HireVue in general:

  • Think time and answer time are shown for each question, with a countdown before recording starts.
  • Retakes depend on the recording mode chosen for the interview. If you re-record, the recruiter sees your last take.
  • A practice question comes before the real ones, so you can check your camera and microphone.

Delta HireVue Questions to Prepare

Delta does not publish its On-Demand Interview questions. For a customer-facing safety role, prepare real examples for these themes:

Motivation

  1. Why do you want to be a flight attendant?
  2. Why Delta?
  3. What do you think makes a great flight attendant?

Customer service

  1. Tell me about a time you turned around a situation with an unhappy customer.
  2. Describe a time you went above and beyond for someone you were serving.
  3. Tell me about a time you had to say no to a customer politely.

Teamwork and calm under pressure

  1. Describe a time you stayed calm in a stressful or unexpected situation.
  2. Tell me about a time you worked with a team you had just met.
  3. Describe a time you had to follow a rule or procedure even when it was unpopular.

Adaptability and lifestyle

  1. How do you handle irregular schedules and time away from home?
  2. Tell me about a time you adapted quickly to a big change.
  3. Describe a time you worked with people from a different background or culture.

Questions 6 and 9 matter for this role: flight attendants are responsible for safety, and a calm, kind example of holding the line is more convincing than a story about always saying yes.

How to Practise for the Delta HireVue

  1. Prepare five real examples from customer-facing work, teamwork and stressful moments. Hospitality, retail, healthcare and volunteering all count.
  2. Outline them in bullet points. Delta specifically advises against pre-written answers read from the page.
  3. Record yourself at eye level, with a neutral background and good lighting, dressed to Delta's appearance requirements, and watch back one answer at a time.
  4. Complete it early in the seven-day window, so a technical problem does not cost you the deadline.
