Deloitte HireVue Interview: What to Expect by Country and How to Prepare
Candidate Falcon
Editorial Team

Deloitte is organised by country, and its hiring process differs from one member firm to the next. Deloitte's Canadian and UK careers pages both name HireVue for recorded video interviews; its US pages, at the time of writing, only describe live video interviews. If you have a Deloitte HireVue invitation, this guide covers what Deloitte says about that stage, the questions to prepare and how to practise.
Candidate Falcon is independent and is not affiliated with Deloitte or HireVue. The questions below are preparation themes, not leaked or confirmed Deloitte questions.
What Deloitte Says, Country by Country
Canada (students and recent graduates). Deloitte Canada says that if you are selected for a first-round interview, you will be invited to submit a digital, on-demand video interview via HireVue. Its tips: use the practice questions, and do a few practice rounds on your own before the interview. Second-round interviews may then take place virtually, on campus or in a Deloitte office.
UK (experienced hires). Deloitte UK's professional careers assessment page lists HireVue digital interviews, where you receive a task and record your responses on video, alongside other formats such as an assessment centre.
UK (early careers). Deloitte UK's early careers process includes an online assessment followed by a job simulation that involves recording video responses, with practice questions inside the assessment. It does not name the platform on that page. Results come within four weeks, and the final stage includes a discussion of 30 to 40 minutes and a skills and motivation interview of about 50 minutes.
Adjustments. Deloitte UK says candidates who need adjustments for pre-recorded or live video interviews can receive extended response and preparation time.

How the HireVue Interview Itself Works
The settings come from Deloitte's interview, not from HireVue in general:
- Think time and answer time are set for each question, and a countdown runs before recording starts.
- Retakes depend on the recording mode chosen for the interview. If you re-record, the recruiter sees your last take, not your best one.
- Practice questions come first. Deloitte Canada specifically recommends using them.
Deloitte HireVue Questions to Prepare
Deloitte does not publish its HireVue questions, and they vary by country, service line and level. Prepare examples for these themes:
Motivation
- Why Deloitte?
- Why this service line (for example audit, consulting, tax or risk advisory)?
- Tell us about yourself and why you are applying now.
- What do you know about the work this team does for clients?
Behavioural examples
- Tell us about a time you worked in a team with a tight deadline.
- Describe a time you had to adapt quickly when plans changed.
- Tell us about a time you solved a problem with limited information.
- Describe a time you built a good relationship with someone difficult to work with.
- Tell us about a mistake you made and what you learned.
- Describe a time you took the lead on something.
Client and professional skills
- Tell us about a time you explained complex information to someone without your background.
- How do you keep the quality of your work high under pressure?
- Tell us about a business story you have followed recently and why it matters to clients.
How to Answer "Why Deloitte?"
Make the answer about the service line and the work, not the brand:
- Name the service line and office you applied to.
- Give one specific reason: the type of clients, a project area or something you learned from a Deloitte event or someone who works there.
- Link it to your experience: one example that shows you would be good at that work.
For UK early careers, Deloitte's final stage includes a skills and motivation interview, so a well-prepared motivation story will help you twice.
How to Practise for the Deloitte HireVue
- Prepare five real examples you can adapt: teamwork, adapting to change, problem solving, a mistake and leadership.
- Outline each with STAR in bullet points, not a script.
- Do practice rounds on your own, as Deloitte Canada recommends, with a timer and on the device you will use.
- Use the practice questions in the real interview to check your camera and microphone.
Our HireVue interview practice simulator lets you paste the Deloitte job posting and generate an interview built around it, with a think-time countdown, limited takes and AI feedback on the relevance, clarity, structure and concision of each answer. In Canada, it is the first-round interview for students and recent graduates, followed by second-round interviews. In the UK, HireVue digital interviews are one of the formats used for experienced hires.
Can I practise before the Deloitte HireVue?
Yes. Deloitte Canada recommends using the practice questions and doing a few practice rounds on your own beforehand.
Can I ask for extra time?
