Deloitte Online Assessment: The Immersive Stage Explained

If you have applied to a Deloitte UK graduate scheme, BrightStart apprenticeship, industrial placement or summer vacation scheme, the step after your application is the Immersive Online Assessment. It is the first real test of the process, and Deloitte uses it alongside a Job Simulation before the final stage.

This guide covers what Deloitte says about the assessment, how timing and scoring work, the integrity rules and how to prepare. Deloitte's own pages do not name the platform, but its candidate preparation hub (the Candidate Zone) is marked "Powered by Cappfinity", and the format matches Cappfinity's assessments.

Where it fits in the Deloitte process

Deloitte says its Graduate, BrightStart, Industrial Placement and Summer Vacation Scheme programmes all follow the same structure:

  1. Application form. About 15 minutes, done in one session because progress is not saved. If you meet the academic requirements (usually a 2:1, or 104 UCAS points for BrightStart), you move automatically to step 2.
  2. Immersive Online Assessment. The subject of this guide.
  3. Job Simulation. A separate behavioural stage with written and video answers. See our Deloitte Job Simulation guide.
  4. Final stage. A topic discussion and a skills and motivation interview.
  5. Outcome.

Entry Level Apprenticeships and some shorter work experience programmes use a single OneStop assessment that combines steps 2 and 3.

What the Immersive Online Assessment contains

Deloitte describes two parts.

Part 1: behavioural

You work through realistic workplace scenarios and rank actions from the one you would most likely take to the one you would least likely take. You also answer questions about your preferred working style.

This is the ranking task that Cappfinity calls a situational strengths test. It asks what you would do, not what the textbook answer is, and Cappfinity publishes no answer key. Cappfinity's general advice is to answer honestly and not to second-guess what the employer wants. When we read Deloitte's Candidate Zone in October 2026, it said the scenarios in its practice version are not specific to Deloitte, which suggests the real ones are set in Deloitte's own workplace.

For how this differs from the "best and worst action" tests other employers use, see situational strengths test vs situational judgement test.

Part 2: cognitive

You answer numerical and verbal reasoning questions. Deloitte does not publish example questions, but Cappfinity's free public demo shows what its reasoning tests look like:

  • Numerical: a short work scenario next to a table or bar chart, usually with more data than you need. You pick one of five options, type a number into a box or drag five items into order.
  • Verbal: five sections. You match replies to a message by communication style, fill gaps or rank summary sentences, fix spelling and grammar, rank statements from most to least positive, and judge statements as true, false or can't say.

Deloitte's Candidate Zone lists multiplication, division, decimals, percentages and ratios as the numerical skills involved, and recommends a calculator, pen and paper.

Is the Deloitte online assessment timed?

There is no overall time limit, and Deloitte recommends completing it in one sitting. But time still matters. Deloitte says "some questions are timed, meaning the speed of your response will contribute to your score", and the instructions tell you which sections this applies to.

In practice this means:

  • Behavioural questions: untimed. Take the time to read every option.
  • Numerical and verbal questions: your speed counts. Deloitte's Candidate Zone called these modules "time factored but not time limited". There is no countdown, but answering faster, without losing accuracy, helps your score.

When we read the Candidate Zone in October 2026, it gave averages of about 35 minutes for the behavioural module and 12 minutes for the numerical module. It said that after the Welcome & Integrity module you could take the modules in any order, within five hours. The public Deloitte page only says there is no overall time limit, so check your own invitation.

The integrity rules

Deloitte is strict about this stage, and its rules affect how you prepare:

  • No AI tools while you take it. Deloitte's integrity guidance says AI must not be used when completing its online assessments, including the Immersive Online Assessment, OneStop and the Job Simulation. It says it has measures to detect AI-generated or AI-assisted responses.
  • An integrity statement on camera. Before the online assessment you record a short integrity statement.
  • No answers from websites. Deloitte says using answers from websites breaches its integrity guidelines. It also says fee-charging preparation sites are not endorsed and often give misleading or false information.
  • AI for preparation is allowed. The same guidance says you can use AI to prepare, as long as you do not use it during the assessment.

The penalties Deloitte lists include removal from the process. Treat any preparation material, including ours, as practice for the formats, never as answers.

Results and the feedback report

After the assessment you receive a strengths feedback report. Deloitte is clear that the report "isn't the outcome of your assessment": it describes your strengths, but it does not tell you whether you have progressed. Deloitte says it will get back to you with the outcome within four weeks.

Deloitte does not publish a pass mark. Our guide to Cappfinity results and the strengths feedback report explains what the report is and is not.

Adjustments

Deloitte lists adjustments for online assessments including extra time, alternative formats for situational judgement questions and additional practice questions. You request them through the Reasonable Adjustments form linked in each stage's invitation, and Deloitte says you do not need a formal diagnosis or proof. If you use an AI tool as an adjustment, for example for transcription, Deloitte asks you to clear it with its adjustments team first.

How to prepare for the Deloitte online assessment

  1. Read your invitation and the Candidate Zone. They confirm the modules, the deadline and any practice questions.
  2. Try Cappfinity's free demo. It has example numerical, verbal and critical reasoning questions with no sign-up. Deloitte's assessment includes numerical and verbal reasoning, so focus on those two.
  3. Practise finding numbers in busy tables. Most of the effort in Cappfinity-style numerical questions goes into picking the right figures, then checking the unit and rounding before you answer.
  4. Practise working quickly. Because your speed counts, get used to answering without long pauses. Keep your calculator next to you before you start.
  5. For the behavioural part, think about your first months at work. Read every option before ranking, and rank by what you would really do. Deloitte and Cappfinity both discourage trying to guess the "right" profile.
  6. Prepare your setup. Cappfinity recommends a desktop or laptop and prefers Chrome. Choose a quiet place, a stable connection and a time when you can finish in one sitting.

Candidate Falcon has independent Cappfinity-style practice for the formats in this stage: numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning and the situational strengths ranking task. They are simulations built from public descriptions, not Deloitte's or Cappfinity's tests, and practice results are not Deloitte scores. Playing them needs one of our games plans or Full Access; see pricing. The free Cappfinity assessment guide explains every part.

FAQs

What platform does Deloitte use for its online assessment?

Deloitte's own pages do not name it, but its Candidate Zone is marked "Powered by Cappfinity", and its data notice says the hub runs on systems operated for Deloitte by Cappfinity Limited.

How long is the Deloitte Immersive Online Assessment?

There is no overall time limit. In October 2026 Deloitte's Candidate Zone gave averages of about 35 minutes for the behavioural module and 12 minutes for the numerical module. Some questions are timed, and your speed on them counts.

Does speed matter in the Deloitte online assessment?

Yes, for some questions. Deloitte says the speed of your response contributes to your score on timed questions, and the instructions tell you which ones. The behavioural ranking questions are untimed.

Is the strengths report my result?

No. Deloitte says the strengths feedback report is not the outcome of your assessment. The outcome comes separately, within four weeks.

Can I use ChatGPT or other AI tools during the assessment?

No. Deloitte's integrity guidance bans AI tools while you complete its online assessments and says it has measures to detect AI-assisted responses. AI is allowed for preparation beforehand.

Can I reapply if I am unsuccessful?

Deloitte allows one application per programme per academic year (September to August), so you can reapply in the following year.
