Cappfinity Immersive Assessment Practice: A Week in a Graduate Job

Practise a Cappfinity-style immersive assessment: a five-day job storyline with emails, tables and charts, 25 behavioural and reasoning questions. No video.

Practice: 5 days, 25 questions (13 behavioural, 12 reasoning); no time limitAlso called “Cappfinity immersive assessment”Also called “Capp immersive assessment”

How the practice module works

  1. 01You spend a working week, Monday to Friday, as a new graduate at a fictional UK employer. Each day opens with new emails, briefings, tables or charts in your inbox, and they stay there for every question that follows.
  2. 02Each day mixes behavioural questions (rank five actions, choose the most appropriate response, or place yourself between two statements) with reasoning questions answered from the inbox.
  3. 03Reasoning questions are time-recorded, as Cappfinity’s demo describes its reasoning tests. Behavioural questions are untimed. There is no time limit.
  4. 04Use your own calculator, pen and paper, as HSBC recommends. HSBC also recommends a laptop or tablet because you review several sources.
  5. 05You cannot go back to an answered question, but you can reopen any source at any time.
  6. 06Real immersive assessments can include audio or video content and short recorded video answers (HSBC, FCA). This practice leaves out all audio and video: every source is written, a table or a chart, and you answer by tapping, ranking or typing a number.

What the Cappfinity Immersive Assessment looks at

Cappfinity’s immersive assessments put behavioural and cognitive questions inside one realistic experience. HSBC describes its online assessments as immersive experiences built on real-life scenarios, with graphs or data tables like those you would see working at HSBC, questions that might include audio or visual content, and short video responses. The FCA describes its Cappfinity assessment as strengths-based, with behavioural and cognitive questions on data literacy and logical, numerical and critical reasoning. Deloitte’s Immersive Online Assessment has a behavioural part, where you rank actions in workplace scenarios and answer questions about your preferred working style, and a cognitive part with numerical and verbal reasoning.

Prep sites add detail that no official source confirms. They say the behavioural part is split into five sections, set as days in a new employee’s week at Deloitte and as tiles that unlock in order at HSBC, and that each section opens with information sources such as emails, team chats, charts and short articles, often across several tabs. They report about 32 to 40 questions across the five sections, and situational items with five responses to rank. No answer key, pass mark or weighting between the behavioural and cognitive parts is published.

Candidate Falcon’s practice follows that pattern with two original storylines at fictional UK employers, a professional-services firm and a bank. Each day brings new sources into an inbox that stays open, and mixes behavioural questions, which feed a strengths profile from our own model, with numerical, verbal and critical reasoning questions that are marked right or wrong. Mixing reasoning questions into each day is Candidate Falcon’s design: at Deloitte the numerical and verbal modules are separate, taken in any order, and only one prep site reports reasoning questions inside the storyline, at HSBC. It leaves out all audio and video: every source is written, a table or a chart.

How the Immersive Assessment practice works

  1. Each day starts with a briefing: read the new emails, notes, tables and charts in your inbox. The briefing has no clock.
  2. Then answer the day’s five questions in order. Behavioural questions ask you to rank five actions, choose the response you would most likely give, or place yourself between two statements.
  3. Reasoning questions use the inbox: pick one of five options, type a number, rank five items, say whether a statement is true, false or can’t say, or choose which conclusion follows or which assumption a plan makes. They never say which source to use, and two of them need figures from two sources.
  4. Open any source at any time. On a phone the inbox folds above the question; HSBC recommends a laptop or tablet for its real assessment.
  5. Reasoning questions show the time you take; behavioural questions are untimed. There is no Previous button.
  6. After Friday you see your reasoning accuracy, a strengths profile and a day-by-day review with a worked solution or the deciding line of a source for every reasoning question.

Immersive Assessment tips

  • Read every new source during the briefing, and jot down the key figures and names on paper.
  • In True / False / Can’t say questions, “can’t say” means the sources do not settle the statement either way. Do not fill the gap with what seems likely.
  • When a question needs a figure you cannot see, check the earlier days’ sources: a rate in an email and hours in a table often go together.
  • Answer the behavioural questions as you would really act. Cappfinity asks for honest answers and publishes no key.
  • Keep a calculator, pen and paper ready, as HSBC recommends.
  • Set aside 40 to 50 minutes. Deloitte recommends taking its assessment in one sitting; the FCA allows breaks.

Common Immersive Assessment mistakes

  • Skimming the sources and then hunting through all of them for every question.
  • Answering a reasoning question from general knowledge instead of from the sources.
  • Choosing False when the sources simply do not say: that is Can’t say.
  • Taking a figure from the wrong row, column or day.
  • Treating the behavioural questions as if one answer were right.

A short Immersive Assessment practice routine

  1. Read your invitation and your employer’s preparation hub to see what its immersive stage includes, and whether it has video.
  2. Do one run here at your own pace, then read the review of every reasoning question you got wrong or skipped.
  3. Practise the formats on their own in the numerical, verbal and critical reasoning modules and the situational strengths module.
  4. Do another run: the storyline, the sources and the figures change between runs.
  5. If your process includes recorded video answers, practise those separately.

Immersive Assessment FAQ

What is the Cappfinity immersive assessment?

An assessment that mixes behavioural and cognitive questions inside a realistic job scenario. HSBC describes immersive experiences built on real-life scenarios, with graphs or data tables, while Deloitte and the FCA describe a behavioural part, such as ranking actions, and a cognitive part with numerical, verbal or critical reasoning.

Does the practice include video or audio?

No. Real immersive assessments can include audio or video content and short recorded video answers (HSBC, FCA). This practice leaves out all audio and video: every source is written, a table or a chart, and you answer by tapping, ranking or typing a number.

Is the Cappfinity immersive assessment timed?

HSBC says its online immersive assessment is untimed and to allow about 50 minutes; its 2025 transcript says around 40 minutes. The FCA says its online strengths-based assessment, the stage this practice matches, is not timed, takes around 40 minutes and does not score the time you take. The FCA uses the word immersive for its later job insight stage, which includes video answers and some timed parts. Deloitte says there is no overall time limit, but some questions are timed and response speed counts. Candidate Falcon’s practice has no time limit. It shows the time you take on each reasoning question; behavioural questions have no clock, and time is not part of any score.

How is the practice scored?

Reasoning questions are marked right or wrong, and you see your accuracy and the time you took. Behavioural questions have no key: they give a strengths profile from Candidate Falcon’s own model, not Cappfinity’s. Cappfinity publishes no pass mark, answer key or weighting, and Deloitte says its strengths report is not the outcome of your assessment.

How many questions does the immersive assessment have?

Cappfinity does not publish a count, and prep sites disagree: 32 situational and personality items in Deloitte’s behavioural part (JobTestPrep), 38 in five sections at HSBC (Intervyo) or about 40 multiple-choice items (GraduatesFirst). Candidate Falcon’s practice uses 25 questions over five days, which is its own length.

Is this the real Cappfinity immersive assessment?

No. It is independent practice by Candidate Falcon, based on Cappfinity’s public descriptions, employer guidance and prep-site reports. It is not affiliated with Cappfinity and does not use its questions, storylines or scoring. Real immersive assessments are often set in the employer’s own workplace.
